Ball point pens, pencils, erasers, all set and properly laid out on the desks… Some of these will never be used – despite this every student believes they are essential for any exam, following an unwritten rule which says “the more equipment you have, the better you will perform” Wide-eyed and gazing at the exam scripts, skimming through the questions, the clock ticking…. Do you remember these “golden days?” or perhaps you don’t want to?!
In September, this was the situation for the shortlisted grade 8 Wildlife Warriors in all our schools. The students sat for the highly contended Wildlife Warrior Scholarship Exam after months of conservation sessions and activities conducted by the Land & Life team. The topics covered were Water Conservation & Drought Resilience, and Forestry, including practical reforesting by seedballing and treeplanting around their schools and manyattas.
New Warriors Announced
A few months later and after a vigorous and thorough selection process, we’re proud to announce the recipients of the 2019 Wildlife Warrior Scholarships. These are the top boys and girls in our supported schools who have scored exceptionally well, both in the WWP Exam and in the end of year National Exam (KCPE).

“We sincerely thank you for the unlimited effort you are making in preparing the future generation in the marginalized areas. The scholarships that you offer have gone a long way in ensuring that those who would have never gotten a chance to see the door of a secondary school can now proudly enjoy secondary school education through your support. The retreats that you prepare for them have become an eye opener of how the world is and how to prepare to face it” – Mr. Samuel Mutabari (Head teacher at Kachiuru Primary School, Isiolo County)
